I am a mostly self taught Cake decorator...I am constantly looking for new ideas, techniques, recipes, advice...anything that will make me a better decorator. I found this passion completely by accident but quickly realized that I had some talent worth exploring. Even though this is defilitely the most stressful thing i've ever done, it is also one of the most rewarding. I currently work part time, but would love to expand my business enough to become a SAHM again before my fiance and I (set to be married in 46 days :)) decide to have children.
Last night I did not sleep well, and that lead me to exploring on YouTube and running across several bloggers sights that became very informative to me...After seeing one of the most beautiful wedding cakes that I think i've ever seen at Jackies-Creations, you can see it here. I decided it was time to expand into the world of Gumpaste, and rather than wait to take a class, I am just going to jump in, with youtube by my side and take a swing at it! I also found the blog Happy Cakes Bakes which has wonderful tips and videos and recipes...you name it...I can only hope to one day be able to create such masterpieces as these ladies...but knowing they too are self taught decorators give me a lot of hope :)
Below are the first 3 cakes I ever made...Now I have evolved alot since then...especially considering these were made with store bought icing...But I enjoyed these so much, I knew I just had to know more about this world of Caking :) I will post more recent pics in blogs to come, but for now, this is where I started!
So with that being said, I will close my first blog with a verse of scripture that I believe sums up how I feel about my "caking" as Jackie calls it...(I am also borrowing this scripture from her blog as well...needless to say..INSPIRATION!)
